Campus Dining partners with student-led Vanderbilt Culinary Club to host pop-up dinner
Vanderbilt Campus Dining is proud to partner with the Vanderbilt Culinary Club to offer a unique pop-up dining event this week. Unlike Campus Dining’s previous pop-up meals, this event will be handled largely by the student-run Culinary Club – from menu development to meal preparation.
Organized in 2021, the Vanderbilt Culinary Club boasts nearly 300 members, and is led by Junior Michael Weirich. The Culinary Club aims to connect Vanderbilt students with a passion for cooking, or simply a desire to learn how to cook.
The latest installment of the Campus Pop-up series will feature a Lebanese-inspired menu, with marinated and grilled chicken skewers, chickpea and couscous pilaf, and falafel with yogurt lemon dip. Vegan options will also be available.
Sharing his inspiration for the menu, Weirich notes, “As my mom’s side of the family is Lebanese and Italian and talented at cooking, I have always loved the vibrant Mediterranean flavors and variety of textures in these storied cuisines. Memories my mom has from her parents’ food growing up as well as her mother explaining the dishes themselves have contributed to my pursuit of balanced flavors with fresh herbs, citrus, and delicious open fire cooking.”
The popup event will be held at Branscomb from 4:30pm-7:00pm, or until supplies last. All students are invited to join, and meal swipes will be accepted.
