Campus Dining partners with Residential Colleges for Commons Cup sustainability challenge
Vanderbilt University Campus Dining is excited to announce a new collaboration with Residential Colleges, integrating the ReusePass reusable container program into this year’s Commons Cup. This annual competition among first-year houses promotes camaraderie through academic, social, and community-focused challenges. With sustainability as a core value, it was a natural fit to make ReusePass the centerpiece of the competition’s sustainability category.
The sustainability challenge encourages students to sign up for ReusePass and actively use reusable containers at dining locations. Points will be awarded based on how many signups and full cycle container returns each house completes throughout the academic year. This initiative not only supports a greener campus but also helps students build lasting sustainable habits.
The ReusePass program offers students an easy way to reduce single-use waste by using a reusable to-go container at Campus Dining locations. After each meal, participants return their containers for cleaning and reuse, completing the cycle. The program has already made a significant impact by lowering waste across campus and promoting sustainable dining practices.
Participation in ReusePass reflects Vanderbilt’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility. It’s a win-win: reducing waste and adding excitement to the Commons Cup. For more details, students can explore the Commons Cup Schedule and learn more about ReusePass.
Best of luck to all first-year students—may the most sustainable house win!
