Campus Dining during Commodores Care period
All students returning to campus for the spring semester, including students living in residence halls, in Greek houses or off campus, will be required to participate in a Commodores Care period immediately upon their return to support the health of our community and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
The “quiet” Commodores Care period will continue through at least Monday, Jan. 24. Students with negative test results and without symptoms may:
- Leave their residences to attend in-person classes;
- Pick up to-go food or supplies;
- Seek medical attention;
- Perform essential work or research for the university; and
- Engage in outdoor activities that do not involve close contact, such as walking, hiking or running
Campus Dining locations – including residential dining halls and Munchie Marts are open, but will be limited to “to-go” style service. To reduce trips to dining locations, students can take advantage of multiple meal swipes (up to three times per 60 minute period) in dining halls and markets.
Masks will be required in all indoor spaces, preferably a well-fitted mask such as a KN95, KF94 or FFP2 version.

During the spring 2022 Commodores Care period, indoor dining in Campus Dining facilities is temporarily suspended. All food will be served in "to-go" containers, and should be eaten elsewhere.

Vanderbilt University operates a peer-leading food allergy program, and can accommodate a wide variety of perferences, intolerances, and food allergies. To help navigate these choices, students can use the mobile-friendly NetNutrition menu tool, available at vu.edu/menus. For students with severe allergies, a special ordering program has been developed, overseen by Registered Dietitian Emily Suttle. Students who have already registered to use OrderIT for allergen meals will see no change; they should continue to order and pick up meals just as they did in the fall.

Vanderbilt’s meal plan rates are established on a semester basis. Given the updates announced for spring 2022 allow for students to live on campus for the entirety of the spring 2022 semester, meal plan rates will remain at the spring 2022 published rate.
If you are an undergraduates student and are informed to shelter in place or move to a different housing location for COVID-19 quarantine or isolation, your meals will be provided by the Office of the Dean of Students and Campus Dining. Shortly after entering a quarantine or isolation status, students will receive an email with instructions and helpful information, including information about dining. Currently, students in quarantine or isolation receive funds to order meals through GrubHub.
For more information about quarantine and isolation housing, please contact the Office of Housing and Residential Experience at (615) 322-2591 or ohare@vanderbilt.edu.
Although classes are delayed for the spring 2022 semester, Campus Dining is open with a wide variety of meal options. Both residential dining halls and Munchie Marts are open with adjusted hours to serve students who remain on campus.
